Our Mission

In short, we save lives! HPR rescues, provides transport, local placement, and assists other non-profit and public safety agencies involved in education and the prevention of animal cruelty within one of the poorest regions in the South-Central United States. As an IRS and state approved non-profit entity, we provide animals (and their caregivers) opportunities to thrive in a new environment. To date, we have transported and saved nearly 15,000 animals from euthanasia.

About Us

Natchez Transport Program

Our transport program team has worked to save the lives of over 12,000 pets who could not find local homes by moving them to "no-kill" adoption centers in other areas where adoptive homes are more plentiful.

Miss-Lou Rescue

HPR works with local rescuers and pet owners find placement for unwanted pets and for litters.

Large Animal Rescue

We work directly with local law enforcement agencies to remove large animals from situations of abuse and neglect.

Sharing the Love

We partner with other rescues and shelters to end the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable dogs, puppies, cats and kittens that cannot find local adoptive homes. On average, each year our organization helps 2,000 pets. Through our work, additional space is opened up in local Miss-Lou area shelters and rescues so that even more local pets can be helped. Transported pets receive spay/neuter surgery and a wonderful opportunity to find a loving home. Our organization follows national guidelines and best practices for humane care of sheltered pets and transport animals.

MEET OUR DIRECTORS

Each year we work to save around 1,500 animals with a small but very dedicated group of modestly paid animal care technicians. Our administrative staff and directors are all unpaid volunteers. There are no high salaries or administrative fees in our organization and all donations go directly to care for animals.
